State-of-the-art mill to improve access to coffee growers in Minas Gerais
Volcafe Brazil has officially broken ground on a state-of-the-art processing plant in Minas Gerais, one of Brazil’s key coffee-growing regions.
The Três Corações mill will deploy cutting-edge technology to improve quality, traceability, and operational efficiency, and enable Volcafe to better serve its global array of roaster clients by providing greater consistency, reliability, and access to Brazilian coffee.
The Três Corações mill is a testament to our unwavering commitment to excellence and sustainability within the coffee industry.
Upon completion, the facility will allow Volcafe to process coffee using state-of-the-art, energy-efficient equipment. The mill is currently undergoing the EDGE certification process. Developed by the International Finance Corporation, part of the World Bank Group, EDGE streamlines the integration of green building practices to help address climate change. This certification reinforces Volcafe’s commitment to minimising the environmental impact of its operations.
This strategic investment also underscores Volcafe’s dedication to supporting coffee growers and their communities. By bringing post-harvest services and advanced processing technologies closer to the coffee-producing regions, Volcafe aims to better serve the coffee communities with comprehensive services and to bolster the long-term sustainability of coffee farming in Brazil. The project is expected to create over 100 jobs, in a boost to the local economy.
Danilo Pucci, General Manager of Volcafe in Brazil, commented: ‘This mill will not only enhance Volcafe’s ability to supply high-quality Brazilian coffee to our roasting partners, but it will also deepen our commitment to Brazilian coffee farmers by expanding services, improving efficiency, and ensuring a more sustainable and resilient coffee supply chain.’
‘The Três Corações mill is a testament to our unwavering commitment to excellence and sustainability within the coffee industry,’ said Trishul Mandana, Volcafe’s Managing Director.
